Cristo Rey Kansas City High School

Cristo Rey-Kansas City High School is a college preparatory school that provides a high quality Catholic education for students from low-income backgrounds. There are a variety of opportunities for volunteers to serve at Cristo Rey. If you have a degree or experience in education, math, science, engineering, computer programming, nursing, communications, athletic training, coaching or ministry you might be a good fit at Cristo Rey.
The students at Cristo Rey work one day a week at a business or non-profit in the Kansas City area where they have the opportunity to learn professional skills while paying for part of their tuition.
Cristo Rey is part of a larger Cristo Rey Network of high schools that was started by the Jesuits in Chicago. The network is comprised of 26 quality, Catholic, college preparatory high schools for underrepresented urban youth. Cristo Rey Kansas City is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth.
You can learn more about Cristo Rey by going to Cristo Rey Kansas City’s website and Cristo Rey Network’s website.
You can also read reflections by former volunteers Vanessa (www.preciousbloodkc.org/education-to-break-the-cycle-of-poverty/) and Ryan (www.preciousbloodkc.org/thanks-and-giving/).
