Who We Are
Precious Blood Resource Services (PBRS) is a ministry of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, Kansas City Province. We are part of a worldwide community of priests and brothers, lay associates (Companions), and Precious Blood Volunteers. Through many ministries, the Missionaries of the Precious Blood serve those on the margins through work in the inner city, healthcare, pastoral care, and advocacy. Our members serve as teachers, pastors, missionaries, retreat leaders, theologians, advocates for those on the margins of society, hospice care workers, and justice & peace advocates.
What We Do
Precious Blood Resource Services is a ministry of accompaniment. We provide the following service to our clients: we assess their situation, link them to services and accompany them through the process. Often the process of obtaining services from government and private agencies can be tedious and clients may need encouragement and direction. We also strive to partner and collaborate with all community resource agencies in order to enhance the quality of life for those in need.
How You Can Get Involved
- We need volunteers who are willing to walk with our clients as they seek services from community agencies. We train our volunteers to ask the right questions of our clients to help determine what agencies can best help them. We help them by giving them the needed phone numbers and contact information for the services they need, and if necessary our volunteers will help facilitate conversations with agencies for help.
- We need volunteers to help with administrative tasks in our offices: keeping information for our partner agencies up to date, filing, typing, and printing needed materials.

As Missionaries and Companions of the Precious Blood – Kansas City Province, we are compelled by our charisms of reconciliation, hospitality and ministry of the Word for the renewal of the Church. We are motivated by the Gospel message (“For I was a stranger and you welcomed me”, Mt. 25:35) and inspired by our founder, St. Gaspar (“Please, I urge you not to abandon the poor who are the image of Jesus Christ”). We remember that we are a nation of immigrants. In light of these roots and our commitment to social justice, we affirm the rights of all immigrants to be treated with dignity and respect. We call on all government leaders to work together to establish compassionate and comprehensive immigration reform legislation. This legislation should:
- Provide a timely path to legal status for undocumented persons in the country
- Preserve family unity as a cornerstone for our national immigration system
- Provide for just and legal paths for immigrant laborers to come and work in the U.S.
- Restore due process protections to our immigration enforcement policies
- Address the root causes of migration within sending countries and explore long-term solutions
We empower the Justice and Peace Committee to develop an action plan for the congregation to implement the core beliefs expressed in our stance.

Motivated by the Blood of Christ and called to be ministers of reconciliation, the Society of the Precious Blood, Kansas City Province, reaffirms its belief in the sacredness of life and thereby takes this position that capital punishment is wrong. To put these words into action, we encourage our priests, brothers and companions of the Society of the Precious Blood to engage in activities which will end the death penalty in those states where it is still used and to work toward the goal of ending this type of sentence in our nation. Whenever and wherever it is deemed appropriate, we encourage our members to preach justice and mercy on behalf of the victim and perpetrator of such horrendous crimes.
