Barb Croom Award 7 30 14Sister Barbara Croom, ASC, Pastoral Assistant at Holy Savior Catholic Church, has been selected as the recipient of the 2014 Harriet Tubman Award, which is presented by the National Black Sisters’ Conference.
Sister Barbara received the award July 30 in Mobile, Ala. at the joint conference of the National Black Sisters’ Conference, the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus, the National Association of Black Catholic Deacons, and the National Black Catholic Seminarians Association.
The Harriet Tubman Award is presented by the conference to individuals for outstanding spiritual leadership.
Sister Barbara has served as a woman religious for more than 50 years. She is a founding member of the National Black Sisters’ Conference, which was established in 1968, and has been active in many committees as a conference member. Currently, she serves as vice president of the conference.
