Dear Friends,
Two weeks from today I will be leaving for Tanzania to attend the Precious Blood Major Superiors meeting convened by our Moderator General and General Council that begins on September 14. Father Lac Pham will also be attending, along with all the provincials and directors from the vicariates and missions where Precious Blood missionaries serve around the world. I am looking forward to returning to Tanzania where I spent almost a month last fall to give retreats to the missionaries and students there. Please place the intention for this gathering in your prayers these next few weeks.
At the last meeting of the Major Superiors in July 2013, the gathered leaders invited all members and lay associates of the Congregation to foster our spiritual connection through prayerful communion. Each month we have been holding in prayer a particular unit in the Congregation asking God’s grace and blessing to be upon all their members and lay associates. In September, the members and companions of the Kansas City Province and the Vietnam Mission will be the intention of the worldwide communal prayer.
Labor Day weekend offers all of us an opportunity to relax with family and friends and to give thanks for the work of our hands. Though the calendar and students and teachers who started school two weeks ago would disagree, it also traditionally marks the end of summer. I trust that however you are spending this weekend, may you be safe and experience refreshment for body and soul.
As always, may we meet in prayer and linger there awhile.
With peace,
Joe Nassal, C.PP.S.
