On June 30th, the eve of the Feast of the Precious Blood, the students, candidates and members of the Vietnam Mission celebrated the feast day at Xavier Mission House in Saigon. We began with Eucharist at 4pm followed by a social and dinner. Fr. Nhan Bui, C.PP.S. presided at Eucharist and Br. Daryl Charron, C.PP.S. shared a reflection after the gospel. It was a privilege to have Br. Ton Sison, C.PP.S. here staying with us for a month while teaching at the Jesuit School of Theology. Our inquirers, Tinh, Blir and Khuong came over from our parish, Hoa Hung Church. Additional guests were Nhan’s mother and two of his sisters, and his former spiritual director, Sr. Teresa Hong Tran and two of her traveling companions. We had a lot to celebrate including: Nhan presiding at his first wedding this past week which was his niece and her fiancee; Sr. Teresa and her companions going to do ministry at an orphanage in the Highlands; and the graduation of Ky and Diep from Christian Brothers Theology School.
We were happy to commission our candidates in formation to their summer ministries during Eucharist. Hoa Vu will be doing his ministry at Tan Thanh Church in the Binh Phuoc Province. Hao Pham will minister in the same province at Loc Tan Church. Dung Nguyen and An Nguyen will be doing their minisries at the Christian Brother School in Pleiku City in the Highlands. Ky Phung and Diep Vu will be studying for a comprehensive final exam at their theology school. We are proud of the progress of our candidates in formation.
