Welcome to Precious Blood Volunteers

Our Mission

Precious Blood Volunteers is a ministry of the Kansas City Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. Our mission is to form lay Christians in Precious Blood spirituality by building community, walking with those who suffer and seeking reconciliation in a divided world.

Our History

Marie Trout, a Precious Blood lay Companion, and Al Ebach, C.PP.S., a Precious Blood priest, came up with a plan to give an opportunity for lay people to live in service to others for a year as part of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. In April 2008 Marie and Al presented their idea at the Kansas City Province annual Assembly. Their plan was approved during the annual Assembly of the members of the Kansas City Province.

Since that time we have had volunteers serving in schools, social service centers, hospitals, health clinics, LGBTQ service centers and parish ministry. Our volunteers have gone on to careers in the medical field and with organizations like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Cancer Society.

How will I walk with those who suffer?

Your ministry as a Precious Blood Volunteer will give you the opportunity to serve people who have been marginalized because of their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, illness, immigration status or income level. You will walk with Jesus by sharing in the joys and sufferings of the people you are working with.

How will I grow in faith?

Your experiences as a Precious Blood Volunteer will challenge and deepen your relationship with Jesus. You will have daily opportunities to pray and talk about your faith journey with others. These opportunities include daily community prayer, spiritual direction and meeting with lay people and religious committed to renewal and reconciliation.

What is Seeking Reconciliation?

As a Precious Blood Volunteer you will share in the mission of all Christians to bring hope to the suffering, reconciliation to the alienated, a sense of community to the lonely, and a deeper faith to all who seek God.

How will I build community?

While serving as a Precious Blood Volunteer, you will live in community with other Precious Blood volunteers, priests, brothers, or sisters. You will pray, work, and learn with lay people and religious while living a simple lifestyle that reflects hospitality, reconciliation, and common prayer.
