Community, faithful come to celebrate labyrinth blessing

57b1269f96f98.imageDespite the heat of late afternoon, more than 50 people gathered Sunday, Aug. 14, at the Precious Blood Renewal Center off of Flintlock Road to be among those blessing the new Reconciliation Labyrinth.
Provincial Director Father Joe Nassal said the dedication is the province’s response to this Holy Year of Mercy.
“We pray for a wounded and war-scarred world,” he said to the gathering before the short walk to the labyrinth.”

Lectionary Catechesis: OT 23C, September 4, 2016

Discipleship costs, and its costs should be carefully considered so that one’s commitment is guided by wisdom. The cost is renunciation of the things of earth. A materialistic consumer culture is unsustainable. Of course there are a number of subsidiary issues here to distract us from our true purpose for being. What does it mean for us to please God so whole-heartedly? Slavery in general could be our reflection and what slavery to sin means, but this needs to handled skillfully if to be done well.
